Macallan Gold is a non aged statement Whisky released in late 2012 as part of a series of colour-themed bottlings introduced to replace the distillery’s age-statement expressions. The concept being that the older the whisky is the darker it will be. Produced from 9-15yo first fill and refill sherry casks, it was designed to replace the 10 year Sherry and Fine Oak whiskies the distillery produces.
A very limited NAS or vintage release of Macallan described as their special reserve. These bottles have become highly collectable over the years.
Based from a combination of European and American oak casks, Macallan Edition No 3 presents a sweet and fruity character. It has outstanding flavours with citrus, vanilla, florals and fresh cut oak. Edition 3 has been created in combination with Roja Dove, one of the most respected ‘noses’ in the perfume industry.
This range takes it’s name from a number of single cask bottlings Macallan released during the 1990s which are often described as some of ‘the greatest Macallan of them all “.
Distilled on the 6th August 2003 and bottled over 14 years later after maturing in single European Oak Sherry Butt #8841 (Ref: 2017/ESB-8841/03) , this bottling was selected by Master Distiller Bob Dalgarno.
One of only 612 bottles.
The fourth edition in this unique series by Macallan; available worldwide from July 2018. Edition No. 4 has been described as revealing the “structure of the whisky”, taking inspiration from the construction of the new £140m distillery. Crafted from a combination of European and American oak casks, Edition No. 4 is described as a “zesty, vibrant and invigorating” single malt with notes of rounded honey, sweet toffee and citrus fruits.
