Released in 2014, this is one of two Distiller’s Reserve single malt whiskies from Suntory in Japan. This single malt from the Yamazaki distillery is packed with superb red berry notes, gained from the whisky being matured in Bordeaux wine casks and Sherry casks. Overall this is a top quality Japanese whisky, and excellent value too. Can’t go wrong with this one!
Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2013 awarded World Whisky of the Year in the 2015 edition of Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible, scoring 97.5 marks out of 100. He states it is “near indescribable genius and praises its nose of exquisite boldness and finish of light, teasing spice. Aged in casks which used to hold oloroso sherry, this is a rich and fruity Japanese whisky. The much sought after whisky is the last edition and hard to come by. Very highly recommended.
You are reading it right! A heavily peated whisky from Yamazaki, limited to only 3500 bottles worldwide, this specific bottling was produced only for the Japanese market. On the nose, with heavy peat coming first with shy hints of citrus and dry fruits in the background, develops the palate for intense peat which is more salty in the mouth than in the nose and the fruity flavor caracteristics of the Yamazaki single malt is still present. A delicious combination of peat an fruit, which is well balanced and exceptionally well produced.
This Yamazaki Bourbon Barrel 2013 is from the Cask Collection. this was the final year in the series to commerate the 90th anniversary of the Yamazaki distillery in mind. Aged in 180 litre casks which previously held bourbon resulting in a delicously sophisticated Japanese whisky.
An elegantly presented bottle of Yamazaki 25 year matured in olorosso sherry wood. Decadent sweet , stewed fruits and treacly on the nose, Moist fruitcake, with a bitter- bite, sweet and rich. This is a true example of a whisky made very well.
This Yamazaki 10 year old is a discontinued version of the worlds best single malt. It has been matured in Bourbon Barrels before being bottled a 40% abv. Very hard to find especially this older expression.
