This vintage 12-year-old Clynelish single malt bottle is a fascinating piece of whisky history. Bottled in the early 1980s, the whisky likely originated from distillation at the close of the 1960s, coinciding with the opening of the current Clynelish distillery. This new facility was intended to replace the former Brora distillery, also recognised as the old Clynelish distillery. It is reasonable to infer that this 12-year-old single malt contains whisky distilled at the original Clynelish/Brora distillery. Brora initially ceased operations in 1968 but resumed production in May 1969 due to a sudden surge in demand. The two Clynelish distilleries operated concurrently until Brora eventually closed again in 1983. The Clynelish 12 Years Old 1980s Ainslie & Heilbron is bottled under the Ainslie & Heilbron Distillers Ltd. label.
